Members of the Lions’ Club of Kohima marked Republic Day by visiting members of the State Mental Hospital Institute of Kohima on January 26. The club provided blankets, food packets and sweets to the inmates in the hospital.
The visit to the Institute was part of the 66th Republic Day celebrations of India.After a short service, the club’s members distributed blankets to the members of the institute.
Appreciating the service rendered by the doctors, nurses and other staffs to the members of the healthcare, the club members told them that the public might not know their services ‘but God would surely reward them for their love, care and concern shown to the inmates.’
He also said the Lions’ Club would continue to render humanitarian services for the wellbeing of the patients as well as for the doctors, nurses, and staffs of the hospital. The club prayed for the speedy recovery of the illnesses the patients were suffering.
Dr Wapang, MS of the State Mental Health Institute also gave brief history of the hospital and the patients treated there. After the service, the club members and the inmates, doctors, nurses and staffs in the hospital had lunch.
