Dimapur, Oct. 31 (EMN): The 25th edition of the Loyem Memorial Senior Soccer Open Championship 2017 organised by the Confederation of Chang Students' Union entered Day 21 on Tuesday.
In the first match of the day, Ngangpong FC defeated Lungdon FC 3-0. Muthiu made the first conversion in the 24th minute. A late two goals by Awangbo in the 58th and 60+1 minute sealed the victory for Ngangpong FC.
Ngangpong FC comfortably secured a place in the quarter-finals maintaining a clean-chit by winning all the league matches.
The second match ended in a 1-1 draw between Scavenger Hunt FC and 40th Assam Rifles. Chongshen of Scavenger Hunt FC drew the first breakthrough in the 26th minute.
However, the match was leveled when K.T Choza of 40th Assam rifles successfully converted the penalty kick in the 55th minute finding the much needed equaliser. Chongshen of Scavenger Hunt FC was booked with a yellow card in the 24th minute.
Both the teams, Scavenger Hunt FC and 40th Assam Rifles advance into the quarter-finals from Pool B.
