Department of Art and Culture organises 'Living Morung and Traditional Knowledge' programmes in Kiusam and Seyochung to promote traditional skills.

DIMAPUR — As part of the ongoing 'Living Morung and Traditional Knowledge' initiative, the Department of Art and Culture, Nagaland, organised programmes at Kiusam village and Seyochung on February 21 and February 26, respectively.
At Kiusam village on February 21, the programme was held on the topic ‘Traditional crafting and weaving’. Resource persons included K Rechongkiu on ‘traditional crafting’ and T L Khianmongshe on ‘weaving’, while T Khaintsu narrated a folk tale during the programme.
According to an update, VCC WK Merenba attended the occasion as the special guest. Villagers from Metonger and Chikiponger also attended the programme.

Another programme was held at Seyochung on February 26, on the topic ‘Traditional farming’, where Thsachomong and Lirise were the resource persons and GB Tsichomong was the special guest and a folktale narrator. Villagers from Thangthure and Yangzitong villages also attended the programme.
There was a display of traditional farming implements and indigenous crops, and the formal programmes were followed by a practical experience in the field where the youths were taught and shown the way of indigenous farming.
Moses Newmai, District Cultural Officer, Kiphire, spoke on both occasions on the concept of 'Living Morung and Traditional Knowledge'.
