The suffering of our people often goes unnoticed by our own people. While the majority of the fortunate ones here enjoy the blessings of the land, the less fortunate ones suffer in silence at the hands of our neighbours. It’s sad that our own people living at the borders and beyond remains isolated from us. The sad truth is that our people (Nagas of Mynmar) are living in fear and humiliation. The lack of proper medical facilities and road connectivity is also a reason behind the pathetic condition our people are in. The wilderness has become their habitat and the life of rejection and uncertainty has become their fate. With no source of income they depend solely on whatever comes their way. In the past they had been victims of religious atrocities. Many had to renounce their faith in order to be saved. Even in their hours of grief the acts of brutality and gunshots became their only companion. But compared to the bygone days, the situation of the present is slightly better than the days of the old.
However, their economic condition is still a matter of concern for those concerned. It is reported that the Pastor’s monthly salary ranges from rupees three hundred to rupees five hundred. This is also possible because of the donations of some few individuals and organizations. In addition to the meagre salaries of the pastors, the living condition of the villagers is far worse than anticipated. The International Trade Centre which is located at the eastern border was an initiation of our government with an aim to help the needy and to help them to ease their financial woes. Overall the initiation is lauded and the development is appreciated. But we still have so much to do and so much to learn.
I believe it is also our responsibility to help our brothers and sisters in need. We should think of means and ways in which we can help them. They deserve our care and support. And they do need our prayers too. The Lord watches over us in all that we do. Our little acts of kindness will benefit them financially and morally. Trust me it will not be in vain. The help we render will be accounted for. Knowing their plight we should be compassionate towards them as God is compassionate towards us. Our people living beyond the borders need us. We should reach out to them and make them feel loved. Where there is a will there is a way. And we know that there are thousands of ways in which we can help them. They are people trapped in their own land. The truth is that we may not know the extent of their sufferings because we suffered not like them. It will never be easy to bring them back to our own land but to start a movement for their cause we have to be politically strong and we have to be spiritually geared up. Their sufferings should be our concern and their hardships should be our burden.
No political issue can be solved in an instant but to get our problems solved we have to be willing to suffer for it. The journey to every successful missions and accomplishment begins with a process and starts with a commitment. If we truly care for them as we care for ourselves, we should start loving them just as they are. God has blessed us with different blessings that we can help those in need with it. If you are public leader, you should start raising your voices for their cause. If you are financially well off, it is important that you bless them with your wealth. And if you are spiritual leaders, pray for them. God has made us one so that we can be together as one. The believers in our land are the powers of our land. God has called us not only to be a blessing to our own people but to the people of the world as a whole. This is the time to be united for the causes of our struggles. Pray, prepare yourselves and do what you have to do and bless them with your wealth, your resources and your prayers. It’s up to us either to bless them or to ignore them. Make your choices now.
