Dimapur, June 28 (EMN): As part of its charity week, management, staff and students of Little Star Higher Secondary School (LSHSS) have distributed materials to needy persons in and around Dimapur. The charity week was observed from June 18 to 23 on the theme “The ability to give is a blessing.”
The materials, donated by the management, staff and students of the school, were distributed to needy persons in Kuda mill colony, Grace learning centre and vocational institute, Rio Sewak colony, Neighbourhood children’s home in Midland, and to the sanitation workers of DMC in Midland area. On June 30, the school has decided to distribute the items to residents of Ebenezer Home in Indisen village, Dimapur.
Charity week was instituted under the initiative of the school’s principal, Christina Neikhrienuo, in the year 2015. The school has since then observed charity week for the last four years.
A press release from the school’s chairperson Nini Sekhose, stated that teachers and students take pride in raising gifts for charity and getting together for a common cause. It added that charity week has opened the eyes of students to the needs around them and how they could be a blessing to those less fortunate than them. They have experienced the joy of helping others rather than only helping themselves.
It further stated that participating in charity week was something to look forward to every year during the summer months and an activity that the school takes up seriously as it instil pride in helping others.
