Achen Imchen (AI): I realized MUSIC and SINGING as my passion since my childhood days when I started singing in my local church.
EM: Tell us something about your musical background?
AI: As I said earlier firstly, I was in Acapella band called Cowboys for Jesus.
Secondly, we formed another Acapella band called Tutties, winner of Spunk Festival, Acapella category in 2003.
Thirdly, in 2004 I was invited to sing for gospel Rock band called Vital Force, Winner of 2004 All Nagaland Open Beat contest where I was awarded as best vocalist. Vital Force was also the winner of All Nagaland Open Rock beat Contest in 2004 organized by Mind blowers club. The same year we also got the privilege to represent Nagaland in Campus Rock Idol in Shillong.
Lastly, but not the least in 2006 I participated in Naga Idol (presently known as Orpheus Hunt) where I was declared as the 2nd runners up. From then I never turned back from music world.
Above all the year 2007 was the most exciting year of my life as a musician, as it was the year when my debut album “Rise, Fight and Live” was released.
EM: What is about music you love so much?
AI: Oh! I love everything about music, but the melodies beats and its lyrics are the most I love.
EM: Where or who do you draw inspiration from?
AI: I have different taste in music which inspire me in various ways. In Gospel Music Acapella while in secular music- Queen and Beatles.
EM: How difficult you would say it is to carve out a career and make a name for yourself in the music industry in Nagaland?
AI: Of course there were difficulties during those initial days of my career as a musician but not today .
EM: What is the music scene in Nagaland like?
AI: No doubt, we have come up ourselves in Music World with so many good musicians flourishing in every corners of Nagaland.
EM: Have you struggled to place foot in the music world? How would you say you have matured over the years in your career?
AI: Definitely Yes, there are a lot of struggles involved in the world of music of which I personally have also come across a lot. In part of growing in music I should say that I am still a baby.
There are many music lovers who dedicate themselves for music. However, it is so unfortunate to say that till today I have not seen anyone who had a proper channel. But in the days to come if anyone comes up with proper channel with potential than I would definitely love to collaborate with them.
This year probably I will be coming up with my new album which I will disclose soon.
