DIMAPUR — The Lions Club of Dimapur Elite, in collaboration with Dimapur 24/7, organised a talk show on mental health at the Dimapur 24/7 office in Midland on October 3 as part of the Mental Health and Well-Being Service Week observed from October 4 to the 12th.
According to an update, the resource person for the session was Rashi Jain, counselling psychologist, corporate trainer (EAP), and founder of Mindshift. The objective of the programme was to raise awareness and address common questions surrounding mental health and counselling.
During the session, Jain discussed issues such as the meaning and importance of mental health, the relationship between physical and mental health, stigma attached to seeking mental health support and ways to overcome it, benefits of good mental health, and signs that indicate a need for care.

She further highlighted the role of counselling, confidentiality, and the distinction between counsellors, psychiatrists, and clinical psychologists.
Other topics included common myths about mental health and ways to change public perception, the influence of social media and technology on mental well-being, the role of government and community in promoting mental wellness, and practical tips for mental care.
The session also touched on challenges faced by individuals, the importance of supportive environments, and the need to normalise conversations around mental well-being.
An interactive question-and-answer session allowed participants to seek clarifications on issues such as confidentiality in counselling, how to encourage hesitant individuals to seek support, and ways to support those undergoing stress.
