Lemei, a 22-year old was crowned Miss Mon, edging out other 17 contenders at an event held at Council Hall, Mon Town, on November 8, 2016 organized by Konyak Nyupuh Sheko Khung (KNSK). N Easther, 22 years old was crowned the first runners up while 22 years old Nonying was crowned the second runners up.
Miss Mon 2016 witnessed 17 gorgeous contestants representing 12 units from across the Mon district.
The event comprised of three rounds- traditional wear, Lingerie and designer wear. In the first round, the contestants showcased the beautiful, vibrant and colorful traditional attire of their respective unit. In the designer wear round, the contestants walked the stage in evening gowns designed by Awan and Shiklong.
Miss Mon also bagged the title of Miss Photogenic and Miss Talent and walked away with a cash of Rs. 50,000/- along with certificates and gift hampers, while the first runners- up received a cash of Rs.30,000/-,along with certificate and gift hamper and second runners-up received Rs.20,000/- along with certificate and gift hampers.
Sub-title winners included Miss Perfect-10 by Miss Shepe Marry and Miss Congeniality by Miss Ngepngam who received a cash of Rs 5000/- , certificate and gift hamper each.
The KNSK who organized the event gave away a certificates and gift hampers to all the participants of the event.
Miss Mon 2016 also received a fire safety kit from District Disaster Management Authority Mon, who is also the Co-sponsor of the event. Miss Mon 2016 will also be the face of the District Disaster Management Authority Mon by being the Ambassador
The show also featured designers wear, traditional attire, songs and dances by various Konyak artists. The judges for the contest included, Chumalemla PGT Govt. Higher Secondary School Mon, Tsenthungo. E. Ngullie, EAC Phomching, Tumben Tsanglao, EAC, Rohbi Sangtam EAC and Satamlila Leacturer DIET.
