Government ready to give assistance to upcoming sportsperson: Nuklutoshi Longkumer A Staff Reporter DIMAPUR, OCTOBER 30 The Nagaland government under TR Zeliang is enthusiastic to give full assistance to upcoming sportspersons ‘who are all set to make sports as their career at both the national and international levels,’ a legislator has said. Minister of National Highway Mechanical Engineering and Election, Nuklutoshi Longkumer stated the statement. He was addressing the opening ceremony of the annual sports event of Lima Aier Higher Secondary School, in Lingrijan, in Dimapur on October 30, Friday. Elaborating the importance of sports, Longkumer said, “Our physical fitness keeps the body fit and thus it is the fruit of mind.” He maintained further that although the Naga people are talented in sports, there are hardly any players at the professional levels. Stating the lament, the legislator urged the youngsters to take sports as a career. The chief guest also felicitated high school- and higher secondary school-leaving board examination students who secured distinctions. Earlier, invocation prayer was offered by Rev. Dr. Alemmeren while welcome address was proposed by the school management. The three-day sporting event will cumulate on Monday.
