
WOKHA — Likya Colony in Wokha town on Wednesday celebrated its 75 years anniversary at the community hall on the theme "Brighten your colony."
Y Mhonbemo Lotha, MLA of 38 Wokha Assembly Constituency (AC), attended the event as the chief host and released the platinum jubilee souvenir. He also conveyed Christmas and New Year 2024 greetings to the congregation.
Speaking on the occasion, he stated that celebration of historic milestone achievement is to honour the pioneers who faced all odds in formation of the colony. He called upon the residents to foster peace and harmony and also encouraged them to forgive one another.
Mhonbemo also urged the residents to rededicate their lives in the service of community development for prosperity. He encouraged the congregations to dedicate themselves for the future generations through unity.
Likya Colony being one of the first colonies in Wokha town, he further challenged the community to take a firm decision and set example for the other colonies in every aspect and to love their neighbours.
The welcome address was delivered by N Thungjamo Lotha, deacon, while Dr. LM Murry, retired director of Health and Family Welfare, briefly narrated the history of Likya Colony.
The sub-divisional officer (civil) of Wokha, Tsuti, congratulated the colony residents on attaining the platinum jubilee. He called upon the residents not to remain confined but come out and serve for the cause of the community. He also urged them to look beyond and work with determination to move forward.
Vandan Erui, chairman of Wokha village council and chairman of Wokha district chairmen’s association, also called upon the colony members to remain as a family with Wokha village.
Earlier, the unveiling and dedication of monolith marking the celebration was done by Rev. Nyanchumo Lotha, executive secretary of LBCA , Vankhosung, while jubilee blessings was said by Rev. Abemo Jungio, pastor of WTBC.
