Kohima, Dec. 9 (EMN): Likho Sangma from the Garo tribe won the traditional game shot put by throwing around 20 kg stone covering a distance of 16 ft 6 inches during the competition at Kisama on Dec. 9.
Sangam walked away with INR 7000. The second place was bagged by Keleseho from Angami tribe, while Chinglei from Phom community bagged the third position. The throwing distances covered by the second and third positition were 15'.8" and 15'.7" respectively. They also received a cash award of INR 5000 and INR 3000 respectively.
Altogether, 15 tribes participated in three rounds of the traditional game. According to the Youth Resources and Sports department (YRSD), the main idea of the game was to showcase the strength as well as technique. The YRSD organised the event in collaboration with the Tourism department.
