Dimapur, Sep. 16 (EMN): Livingstone Foundation Higher Secondary School, Dimapur, scripted history as the first school in Nagaland to attend the model United Nations International Conference 2017 held at the United Nations Headquarters, New York City, in USA from August 14 to 16.
During the conference at New York, the students and faculty members from the school had the rare privilege of exposing their diplomatic and international relationship acumen by participating in different committee simulations of the United Nations like the UN Security Council, the World Health Organisation, International Press, UN International Human Rights Commission and International Court of Justice.
Besides the formal programme, the delegates also visited some prominent places of interest in USA like the White House, Statue of Liberty, Times Square, World Trade Centre Memorial, Kennedy Space Centre, Disney World, Sea World, St. Patrick Cathedral, Lincoln Memorial, US Capitol, etc.
The delegates noted that the most striking aspect behind the success of such a great nation was the humility of its citizens and the excellent roads across its length and breath, which speak volumes for themselves. This was amplified through the famous adage that ‘Roads in America are not good because Americans are rich; rather Americans are rich because of the good roads.’
They also learned a valuable lesson in terms of development of Nagaland wherein they felt that the same principle of American way of life could be applied in Nagaland through humility and development of roads primarily, thereby achieving the similar kind of development like the US in the long run if we pursue the goal earnestly without any corruption.
