DIMAPUR, AUGUST 28: Nagaland Legislators’ Forum on AIDS (NLFA), in its annual general meeting on February 8, 2016, unanimously resolved that church should play pivotal role for prevention of HIV in the State through extensive advocacy programmes.
Its intention was to reach out to all tribal churches in towns and villages. In this effort, all the executive secretaries of 20 Baptist Associations and 4 Associate Members would be involved. Besides, coverage will be given to other denominations in a phased manner.
LFA would also extend advocacies among other Faith Based Organisations (FBOs) such as Hindu and Muslim communities.
The resolution was a revival of NBCC policy of March 16, 2007, which was long overdue for implementation.
Meanwhile, LFA State Consultant Dr. Vinito L Chishi, has thanked the legislators for their concern and support in this endeavour keeping an eye on Adult Prevalence Rate of 0. 78% and General Population Prevalence Rate of 1.29% as it stood in June 2016 (NSACS data).
