DIMAPUR, SEPTEMBER 4: Parliamentary Secretary of Housing, Er. Levi Rengma, said colleges are central to the development of modern society and not as mere institutions of learning but as centers of excellence. He also pointed out that higher education is the fulcrum and pivot upon which all other development rest and rotate around.
Addressing the students of School of Agricultural Sciences and Rural Development (SASRD), Medzipheama, at the 22nd annual fresher’s social meet on September 2, Er Levi said the issue of quality education has become greater concern in the society. He lamented that, while large number of students graduated each year but most of them are not employable as they lack the basic technical skills which are needed in the job market. He, therefore, urged the students to strive hard in every sphere of challenges in life to become a successful person and contributes to the greater cause of the society.
Er Levi also congratulated all the freshers for securing a seat in the institute saying, “this is the first step towards fulfillment of your dreams for next four years.” He hoped they will gather the best of knowledge and experience during their stay and face the challenges with confidence.
Short speech was delivered by Prof. NS Jamir, Pro Vice Chancellor of Nagaland University, SASRD. Kihika, president of student union SASRD, chaired the programme and the the invocation was said by Keviuchulie Mezhu, pastor of TBC Medziphema.
