DIMAPUR — LevelUp Northeast – Gaming Track, a two-day workshop, was held in Kohima and Dimapur to equip youth with skills, insights, and opportunities in the fast-growing gaming and creative technology sector.
According to a press statement from the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), it was organised by CII and the Indian Digital Gaming Society (IDGS), with support from the Services Export Promotion Council (SEPC).
The event was part of a national push to position the Northeast as a new hub for digital innovation and was powered by GameForge, IDGS’s flagship industry-academia connect platform.
Noting that gaming today is a USD 250 billion global industry and India is rising fast, the release stated that the event, held at Kohima Science College on July 8, brought together industry leaders from KRAFTON India, JetSynthesys, Chitkara University, Reliance Industries, and more.
Students explored topics such as game development, storytelling, legal aspects of gaming, and how to apply design thinking to real-world challenges.

On July 9, the event moved to Tetso College, Dimapur, where students engaged in advanced sessions on game design, career pathways, and interactive storytelling. Speakers included Dr. Abhay Sinha, director general, SEPC, and senior leaders from KRAFTON India, JetSynthesys, and Chitkara University.
Delivering the keynote address virtually, Dr. Sinha emphasised India’s global potential in the gaming export market and the Northeast’s critical role in that future.
Participants received hands-on exposure to concept design, world-building, and gameplay mechanics—guided by industry experts. The sessions highlighted how students can turn their ideas into careers, startups, or creative ventures in gaming.
Stating that the success of LevelUp Northeast – Gaming Track in Nagaland is just the beginning, it was maintained that plans are underway to roll out a series of online hackathons, mentoring programmes, and skill-building workshops over the coming months.
These will offer continued engagement for students, aspiring developers, and MSMEs across the Northeast, helping them build portfolios, prototypes, and connections with industry experts. Additionally, future sessions will explore integrating game design and creative tech into academic curricula, further embedding digital innovation in the region’s growth story.
Also, a Tech + Gaming Summit later this year will bring together policymakers, investors, creators, and youth from across India to spotlight the Northeast’s rise as a digital innovation hub.
