Sub: Demand for Aadhaar Linkage to EPIC, CCTV coverage and Live Recording during election in Nagaland
Sir,
At the outset, the Langpangkong Students’ Conference Clean Election Campaign Committee (LKM CECC) expresses its full trust and confidence with the institution of Election Commission of India (ECI) and its sagacious authority for conducting free and fair elections as an autonomous constitutional body in India.
That sir, despite incessant and creditable effort by the Election Commission of India to check the menace of corrupt practices during elections, it is a well known fact that election-mal practices still continues in Nagaland in particular and country as a whole which makes the principle and objective of good governance a mockery after every election.
In view of the above cited reprehensible electoral situation in our state, various civil societies and the church in Nagaland have initiated clean election campaigns in the entire state of Nagaland.
That Sir, ‘Langpangkong’ is one of the six ranges under Mokokchung District of Nagaland State and the three assembly constituencies namely 21st Tuli Assembly Constituency, 22nd Arkakong Assembly Constituency and 24th Angetyongpang constituency are falling under the geographical jurisdiction of the range.
Having witnessed tremendous corruption and mal-practices during elections in these constituencies for the past several years, the Langpangkong Students’ Conference (LKM) has, during its 26th General Conference held in January 2016, adopted a strong resolution to initiate Clean Election Campaign in the Langpangkong range. Consequently, a committee called Langpangkong Students’ Conference Clean Election Campaign Committee (LKM CECC) was constituted. The LKM CECC solely aims to educate the general mass on Clean election for a corrupt-free election and at the same time check the electoral offences and mal-practices, particularly in these three aforementioned constituencies.
However Sir, despite the effort of LKM CECC in educating people on clean election, multiple and bogus entries of voters in electoral roll, impersonation of voters, tampering of EVMs/Ballot Papers, booth capturing, illegal hiring or procuring of conveyances and several other such offences and misconduct at the polling stations likely to continue unless the competent authority adopts certain effective measure immediately to prevent such illegal electoral practices. This is our apprehension that demands your kind attention.
The LKMCECC, therefore, appeal to your esteemed authority to immediately initiate the process of Aadhar linkage to EPIC, Provide CCTV coverage and live recording in all the polling stations in the above cited three Assembly Constituencies in particular and Nagaland in general so as to ensure good governance as a result of free and fair election in the state. This is an aspiration of our younger generation to enjoy the fruit of democracy and live with dignity in our own land.
Thanking you in anticipation, sir.
Yours faithfully,
