Dimapur, Aug. 22 (EMN): The Lerie Panchayat in Kohima has issued a stern warning to revellers in the area that the local authorities will penalise them, even to the extent of publishing the names and identities of those who disturb the peace of the public there.
The panchayat issued a press release on Thursday reminding of standing notices against “partying by revellers, playing of loud music, consumption of intoxicating drinks and use of illegal drugs/substances, involving in immoral activity etc.”
The panchayat iterated its earlier resolution that ‘partying by revellers,’ loud music, consumption of ‘intoxicating drinks’ and use of illegal drugs and substances, ‘involving in immoral activity’ etc. by any individual or group in the jurisdiction of Lerie colony was strictly prohibited.
“Any individual/groups caught red handed violating the existing ban will be penalised with a fine of 5,000 only and their name (s) along with the details of their default shall be published in all the local papers,” the press release stated.
The community authorities took strong note that even in the recent past till date, ‘despite the above existing ban being published in all the leading local papers from time to time in the past and the notice regarding the same being vividly displayed in the signboard in all the prominent junctions/spots within the colony, a good number of individuals and groups from other colonies of Kohima town are still found violating the aforementioned strictures demeaning the Lerie Panchayat.’
The Lerie Panchayat stated that these ‘very questionable acts of those violators as a direct challenge to its authority.’
The panchayat has again cautioned all individuals and groups to put an end to the menace and refrain from engaging in these ‘sorts of ongoing unhealthy, objectionable and avoidable practices in the best interest of all the stakeholders concerned with immediate effect.’
They need to do so as to avoid any ‘unwarranted situations,’ the press release warned.
“Failure to comply with this polite caution or appeal will attract appropriate punitive action from the Lerie Panchayat,” the organisation stated.
