Dimapur, Dec. 2 (EMN): Having noticed of illegal activities taking place at night by revellers from other parts of the town within its jurisdiction thereby creating nuisance and disturbance to the residents, Lerie panchayat has cautioned to take action against those elements.
The panchayat has warned against playing loud music, consuming or using intoxicating drinks and substances, involving in immoral activities etc.
Taking cognizance of all such unpleasant, unhealthy, and illegal activities thereby causing nuisance and disturbance to the colony residents, the panchayat has decided to strictly monitor such activities by conducting surprise checking.
A joint press release issued by the colony chairman, Dr. Ilang and the secretary I Tongpanglong warned that defaulters caught red-handed during checking would be booked/summoned to the panchayat for questioning and initiate appropriate disciplinary. It added that defaulters would be handed over to the concerned law enforcing agency for awarding further befitting action as per the appropriate provisions of the law.
In view of the above stated circumstances, the panchayat has entrusted the task to colony youth to keep a tap on all such illegal activities. It further directed the youth organisation to carry out their assigned task in collaboration with the Lerie women society, Lerie panchayat, district administration and the law enforcement agency at frequent intervals.
