Wokha, April 19 (EMN): Newly elected representatives of Wokha district have credited their electoral success to the ‘prayers’ of the community, and the same channel is what they are seeking to realize for the community’s aspirations for growth and development.
Lotha Baptist Churches Association (LBCA) hosted a thanksgiving service in honour of newly elected legislators from Wokha district, on April 19 at the Mission Centre in Vankhosung near Wokha town.
Speaking during the occasion, the deputy chief minister of the state Y Patton thanked the LBCA for giving the time to organise the event for the legislators from the Lotha community. Patton attributed their electoral success to the ‘continuous prayers of the community.’ He asked the public to uphold the legislators in their prayer ‘so that they can meet aspirations for the uplift of the community.’
A DIPR update stated that Patton thanked the LBCA also for actively participating in the clean election campaign ‘thereby enabling peaceful elections.’
The advisor for Horticulture Mhathung Yanthan, who spoke at the event also thanked the Almighty God for choosing him to be a leader of a community. He sought support and cooperation to enable him work for the uplift of the community’s economy. He opined that the district requires an able leader to take advantage of the natural resources and fertile land and exploit them for the community.
Naga people’s Front legislator from 38th Wokha assembly constituency Dr. Chumben Murry, also spoke, urging the state and the church to have a vision to work together to take forward the society.
The LBCA’s executive secretary Rev. Nyanchumo Lotha said the invocation for God’s blessings on the newly elected legislators.
