Dimapur, July 15 (EMN): The ministerial team led by Deputy Chief Minister of Nagaland Y Patton, comprises of Minister for Higher & Technical Education, Imna TemjenImna Along and advisor Pukhayi Sema and Longriniken undertook two-day visit to Nagpur in Maharashtra on July 13 and the 14th.
The team called on Nitin Gadkari, Union Minister for Road, Transport and Highways at his private residence and apprised him of various National Highways projects in Nagaland and requested for additional new highways projects in the state, a press release receive here on Sunday from the Dy. Chief Minister Office media cell infromed.
Patton, who also holds the Home and National Highways portfolios, thanked Nitin Gadkariji for taking special care for Nagaland ‘under whose efforts some mega projects were approved in the past and many new projects of highways are in pipeline.’
Call to entrepreneurs to invest in Nagaland
The team also attended the meet- the-press programme organised jointly by Nagpur Union of Working Journalists and Nagpur Press Club.
Speaking at the press meet, Patton called upon the entrepreneurs from Maharashtra state to invest in Nagaland. He emphatically stated that Nagaland is now a very peaceful state in the Northeast India and people should not have any misconception about the paramount safety and security to all. “We are committed to create an atmosphere conducive for industrial growth keeping in view the natural resources and socio-economic condition of the state. Investment will not only help our economic growth but shall generate employment opportunities for the youth in the private and corporate sectors,” the press release quoted Patton.
Emphasising that Nagaland offers excellent policies and fiscal investments for agro and forest based industries, horticulture, food processing, mining, tourism, handloom and handicraft sectors etc, Patton reiterated that the People’s Democratic Alliance (PDA) Government is commitment to put its sincere efforts for overall development of Nagaland with the support of the Union government under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modiji.
Patton told the press fraternity that the present government in Nagaland is promoting tourism on a large scale with emphasis on the promotion of cultural heritage of Nagaland.
Highlighting the ten days Hornbill Festival in the month of December every year, Patton explained that the festival showcases not only the different tribes of Nagas’ rich cultural heritage but also a platform for the other Northeastern states in showcasing their cultural heritage to the world as it attracts thousands of domestic and foreign tourist every years.
The deputy chief minister also enlightened the people about the success story in protecting the Amur Falcon and Nagaland becoming the Amur Falcon capital of the world.
Also addressing the press meet, Minister Along, informed that Rashtriya Uchchastar Shiksha Abhiyan (Rusa) was helping to bring in improvement in the higher education in Nagaland. He apprised that the state government is committed to continuous quality improvement in higher education.
On behalf of the state chief minister and the people of Nagaland, the minister thanked the Government of Maharashtra and its people for their hospitability and being accommodative towards the people of Northeast and particularly the Naga people.
“So many young Naga students and entrepreneur has been living without the fear of discrimination and prejudices in the state of Maharastra that help them acquire quality education and good job placement in various field cultivating the feeling of brotherhood with the Maharashtrians brothers and sisters,” he said.
The team also stated to have attended the inauguration programme of the Headquarter of Rashtrapita Jyotiba Phule Abhyasika Movement (RJPA) in Nagpur.
The Rashtrapita Jyotiba Phule Abhyasika Movement started its endeavour in the year 2012 and now has 40 coaching centres in 10 districts and within a short span it has helped many rural and poor students to qualify in various competitive exams including UPSC exams, it informed.
Addressing the inaugural program, Patton and Along, appreciated the efforts of the RJPA for social uplift and also extended their best wishes to the students community.
Sandeep Tamgadge IPS, IGP (HQ) of Nagaland, who is a native of Nagpur, accompanied the team during the visit, the press releases informed.
