
Dimapur, April 23 (EMN): To assess the ongoing Covid-19 preventive works around border areas and health centres, minister of Housing and Mechanical, Tongpang Ozukum, and advisor of Industries and Commerce, Imnatiba, visited Watiyongpang check gate under Tuli sub division in Mokokchung district on April 23 and had interaction with the medical professionals, security and administrative officers stationed at the inter-state border areas.
The legislators started their first leg of inspection with visit to public health centres (PHC) and inter-state border areas at Tuli sub-division.
During interacting with the officials, Ozukum stated that the government is doing its best with whatever resources and manpower available at the disposal in preparation to fight the global pandemic. He also assured to take up certain grievances with the appropriate authorities for redressal at the earliest, an update from the press secretary to the minister stated on Thursday.
With Langpongkong range sharing a porous border with Assam, he has expressed concern in areas which has no check gates.
Ozukum has also appreciated the sacrifices being made by the frontline workers, police force, administrations and the village authorities. He maintained that importance should be given to the entire border areas in Nagaland in order to contain the deadly virus. He has also appreciated the Home department for deploying two platoon of 13 NAP as requested by Langpangkong citizens' organisations to man the inter-state border.
The minister also asked the villagers especially those residing in the border areas to continue assisting the police force and the administration as well as to strictly implement social distancing in their respective villages.
Imnatiba has suggested certain relaxation to enable small and medium scale industries to function in districts like Dimapur and Tuli as normal life has been badly affected.
The legislators visited Watiyongpang inter-state check gate and Kangtsung yimsen inter-state check gate. They also inspected CHC Tuli, CHC Changtongya, PHC Chuchuyimlang and PHC Mongsenyimti. The legislators were accompanied by additional SP, Mokokchung, ADC Tuli, EAC Tuli and a host of other officials.
