Dimapur, March 28 (EMN): Lamenting that ‘many Nagas’ have become ‘prisoners of negative criticism,’ newly elected deputy speaker of the Nagaland Legislative Assembly Zhaleo Rio has urged the people to leave aside differences to build “our Naganess.” This ‘Naganess’ can be possible through unity, constructive criticism, and ‘consideration of characteristic aspects’ that forge people together, he said.
It is time for positive action and ‘constructive encouragement’ to bring about change to the state of Nagaland, he said.
The deputy speaker was addressing workers of the Nationalist Democratic Progressive Party at the party’s office in Medziphema on March 28. This was stated in a press note issued by the NDPP unit at 5-Ghaspani-II assembly constituency.
Rio was stated to have talked about the different stages of the formation of government and how he finally landed in the chair of the deputy speaker in the People’s Democratic Alliance (PDA) government. He thanked the rank and file of the party and the public for their commitment ‘in his favour.’ He acknowledged also all the members of the assembly who he said were instrumental to the formation of the PDA government.
Further, Rio said that ‘some candidates may be rescuers but I can also be considered a saviour who sacrificed for the welfare of the government, representing the people of five-Ghaspani-II assembly constituency.’
Assuring to contribute to the welfare of the constituency, Rio requested the public to continue to ‘pray and support’ the leaders in the coming days.
