Dimapur, May 29 (EMN): Minister of higher and technical education, Temjen lmna Along has apprised the central government on the urgent need to develop the existing colleges by upgrading them into model degree colleges and also create new professional colleges in the state to cater to the needs of the younger generation.
Temjen lmna Along apprised of the poor condition of institutions in the higher education sector in Nagaland during meeting with Prakash Javedkar, union minister, Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD), GOI, on May 29 at his office in New Delhi.
A press release issued by Menuokholie Kire, state project director (RUSA), department of higher education, stated that Temjen lmna Along has emphasised on the urgent need to develop the existing colleges by upgrading them into model degree colleges and also create new professional colleges in the state to cater to the needs of the younger generation.
It stated that the union minister has assured to provide special package for Nagaland and other North eastern states, adding that the needs of institutions under higher education would be accommodated under RUSA phase 2.
Meanwhile, Temjen lmna Along has expressed gratitude to Prakash Javedkar for approving new model degree college and professional colleges to Nagaland under RUSA Phase 2.
