Dimapur, Nov. 13 (EMN): The Nagaland State Legal Services Authority (NSLSA) has donated Rs.4,10,000 to the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund, particularly in aid of Kiphire district, on November 13.
Updates on Tuesday said that the cheque was handed over to V Sakhrie, advisor to the chief minister. Sakhrie has lauded the initiative undertaken by the Legal Services Authorities of Nagaland, the updates stated. He released a short video produced by the Nagaland State Legal Services Authority too, during the event. The video is said to be about various fund drive events.
The monsoon this year was difficult on Nagaland, with incessant rain triggering floods and landslides across the state. It left many people homeless, major roads and public infrastructure destroyed, and several lives were lost. Kiphire was one of the worst affected districts in the state; landslides cut off its major road, which led to shortage of food supplies.
The district legal agencies of the Nagaland State Legal Services Authority initiated various fund drive activities to aid the affected people in tune with the NALSA legal services to victims of disasters scheme of 2016, the updates added.
The district legal services authorities have constituted an emergency response team to provide legal services to those affected. The emergency response team of Mokokchung DLSA also gave an assessment report about the disaster and furnished report to the district administration for relief aid, the updates added.
