Dimapur, Jan. 9 (EMN): Nagaland state legal services authority (NSLSA) has announced to hold a mega legal camp in Wokha on January 19. The aim of the mega camp was to create awareness to the people of their entitlements and apprise them about availability of free legal service.
This was stated by NSLSA project coordinator, Limasenla Longkumer, while presenting power point on its activities in the district, at the monthly meeting of Wokha district planning and development board (DPDB) held under the chairmanship of the deputy commissioner and vice chairman DPDB, Wokha, Dr. Manazir Jeelani Samoon, in his office chamber on January 9.
A DIPR report quoting Limasenla Longkumer stated that Wokha would be the 10th district to hold such mega legal camp in the state. She stated that the objective of the camp was to provide free legal aid in the nature of counselling and providing free legal services in the conduct of any case or other legal proceedings before the court, tribunal or the authority.
Limasenla added that legal services authority also organises Lok Adalats for settlement of pending cases as well as disputes which have not been brought before the court thereby avoiding the cost and delay and to ensure speedy justice overcoming legal technicalities.
She went on to add that legal services authority also engage in settling matrimonial disputes through mediation and conciliation. It also helped in spreading legal awareness amongst litigating public and public at large on various issues of social as well as issues of legal importance. She further stated that legal services authority renders free legal aid to the prisoners and under trials.
