Dimapur, Sep. 1 (EMN): The Nagaland State Legal Services Authority (NSLSA), under the aegis of the National Legal Services Authority (NLSA), conducted various legal literacy programmes and activities for legal literacy clubs (LLC) in the last few days.
An update from NSLSA stated that the Mon district legal services authority (MDLSA) conducted a painting competition for the legal literacy clubs on Right to Education (RTE) on August 17. It stated that the chief judicial magistrate-cum-secretary of MDLSA, Seyielenuo Mezhü, delivered the welcome address and elaborated on the topic of the competition.
It informed that the first prize was awarded to Aying from Don Bosco Higher Secondary School, Mon, while the second and third prizes were awarded to Peter Leezushu from Konjong Higher Secondary School, Mon, and Manwang from Don Bosco Higher Secondary School, Mon. Consolation prize was also awarded to Pholang K from Government Higher Secondary School 'D,' Mon.
In a similar programme, the Wokha DLSA organised an inter-school legal literacy club painting competition on "Right to Education" on August 28.
In the competition, Athunglo P Humtsoe won the first prize, while Rhonjanthung Jami and Nzanroni Yanthan won the second and third prizes respectively. Khrievono Seletsu, JMFC-cum-secretary, and retainer lawyers Meribemo A Lotha and Shanchobeni P Lotha were the judges.
In another programme, the Longleng DLSA organised an online speech competition for LLC on “RTE Act 2009” on August 30. The winners were Lidau H Phom from Christian School, K Asang Phom from Good Shepherd School and Theiang B Phom from Shamakok Mission School.
Altogether, 20 legal literacy club members participated in the competition.
Meanwhile, the Dimapur DLSA conducted an inter-legal literacy club debate competition on "Social media and the rapid spread of information" at the District Court complex on August 30 in which seven LLC schools participated in the event.
It informed that Mharhoni Ezung from Livingstone Foundation International and Lisabeth B Awomi from Christian Higher Secondary School jointly secured the first position, while Imnasenla Longkumer from St. John Higher Secondary School and Christina Ming from Naharbari Government High School secured the second and third positions respectively. It stated that Mezivolu T Therieh, OSD (Registrar) and secretary of Supreme Court Legal Services Committee, gave away the prizes to the winners.
Kohima DLSA also conducted an online debate for the LLCs on August 27 on "Development and environment." It stated that participants from Stella Higher Secondary School, Dr. Neilhouzhu Higher Secondary School, Chandmari Higher Secondary School and GHSS Tseminyu were declared winners.
Further, Phek DLSA, in collaboration with the teacher-in-charge of the legal literacy club of Christian Home School, Phek, conducted painting/ sketching completion on ‘Misuse of gadgets and social media’ on August 26. The contest was conducted in the presence of Cheliam Khiamniungan, secretary of Phek DLSA-cum-JMFC. It further stated that Thozo, Vethalu and Mewe were declared winners.
