Dimapur, May 4 (EMN): Commemorating International Labour Day on May 1, Dimapur District Legal Services Authority (DDLSA) and the Wokha District Legal Services Authority (WDLSA) conducted awareness programmes with the labourers on their rights.
In Dimapur, legal services authority divided the panel lawyers into groups to give on-spot legal awareness and sensitise labourers on their rights. The groups visited various places and conducted legal awareness with the construction workers, daily wage earners, labourers, auto drivers, rickshaw pullers.
In Wokha, the legal services authority, in collaboration with Assistant Labour Commissioner, Wokha, reached out to the border areas of Ralan covering 13 villages and organised a mini-camp for the unorganised sector.
Panel lawyer, Meribemo Lotha, chaired the programme and SDO (Civil), Ralan, delivered short speech, while the theme speaker, Renjamo Ngullie, Assistant Labour Commissioner, Wokha, enlightened the participants on the building and other construction workers welfare scheme and other scheme for unorganised sector.
Panel lawyer, Shanchobeni P Lotha, highlighted on the activities of legal services. Real time registration of beneficiaries was aided by Para Legal Volunteers (PLVs) Alex Tsopoe and Daisy Tungoe.
Altogether, 60 village functionary members attended the programme. During the programme, 25 genuine workers were identified and registered under Nagaland building and construction workers scheme.
