It is said that a persons life is known at the time of his/her death.
We all talk ill of the NPGs not because everyone is extortionists, kidnappers, high handed Etc but because of some few handful moles, naturally all workers are blamed or look down upon by the general public.
But Undeniably, there are many who whole heatedly sacrifice their lives and work for the Naga sovereignty with the spirit of Naga nationalism.
It was very encouraging and overwhelming to see the mammoth gathering of the Naga people at Dimapur airport and Agri expo to get the glimpse of the mortal remains of Asu and pay homage to the departed soul of our National leader. Over the demise of Asu Isak Swu, irrespective of the all the differences, all other NPG leaders from top to bottom were seen in the funeral. Naga people from all walks of life especially the young Naga bloods unmindful of the scorching heat of the sun flooded the streets with warriors shouts and stood undisturbed and attended the funeral program at Agri expo Dimapur!!!Not to talk much about Asu Isak Swu’s life and his work for the nation because we all about it. If the general public, by forgetting all the misunderstandings and differences with the NPGs can come out and mourn together in one accord over the death of our National leader, this simply shows that, they can and are ready to give their blood for the cause of our Nation if at all the NPGs come to term with the general public by uniting themselves as one single Naga national organization which is the public’s dream and constant appeal yet to be fulfilled!!!. Today its Asu Isak Swu but tomorrow, any other veteran national leader will also follow suit!! If the cry of the general public goes unheard and prolonged further, I am afraid and God forbid, general public might not show their united spirit of enthusiasm and respect to the dying national leader (s) unlike it is happening today over the death of AZ Phizo, Khodao Yanthan and Isak Swu. This far, if any lower strata cadres belonging to any NPG is heard or seen shot or arrested, the general public’s sympathy over them varies unlike it was shown to the top leaders. Why???
Good or bad, national leaders have to be respected and give them our due honour but considering the present over all social scenario, I am afraid, there might come a day when the general public’s sympathy will decrease and vanish and rather spew venom over the death leaders. We have come this more than six decades long way struggling for our sovereignty, we have seen many different changes taken place. People were once forcefully recruited to the NPG. The general people and churches at one point of time were too concerned about the national workers. But today, it has become allergic to support or talk about the national workers. Why???
To be precise, if your years long sacrifices made for the Naga nation to be acknowledged, remembered and cherished like that of AZ Phizo, Khodao Yanthan and Isak Swu, it is never too late for you to make a decision to sacrifice your position, ego, ideology all for the Naga unification and win absolute support/ sympathy of the general public and continue to pursue our common goal without differences of opinions and fight for our birth right sovereignty till the last man standing.
