Imphal, March 10: Newly floated six-party alliance – Left and Democratic Front Manipur (LDFM) may join hands with Congress party “if the situation demands” in forming the next government in volatile blockade ridden border state.
The move of LDFM was conveyed to reporters by CPI (State Council) secretary and LDFM convenor Dr. Moirangthem Nara during a press conference here today.
LDFM was formed by six recognised and registered non-Congress and non-Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) political parties namely Manipur State Council of CPI, CPI (Marxist), Manipur State units of Janata Dal (United), Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), Nationalist Congress Party and the newly-formed Manipur National Democratic Front (MNDF).
“We may go with Congress if the situation demands. However, we’ll be discussing the matter once the results are declared,” says Dr. Nara adding “We’ll play a crucial role in forming the next government.” As per exit poll, Congress will be the single largest party (20-25), while BJP withe (15-17). Nara said LDFM is expecting around 12 seats.
