Dimapur, Sep. 26 (EMN): The Nagaland Law Students’ Federation (NLSF) has expressed dismay over the reports of mention being made in the recently concluded NLA session that ‘154 contractual assistant professor posts were in the process of regularisation’.
In a press release, the federation stated that facilitating the service of contractual assistant professors “without extending any opportunity to the deserving one through means of free and fair competitive process of examination will only jeopardise the spirit of meritocracy among the job aspirants”.
Claiming that the concerned legislator’s statement violates the principle of “equality”, one of the fundamental rights enshrined in Article 16(1) of the Indian Constitution, it said appointments under the department of Higher Education should at least follow due procedural examination process.
The NLSF appealed to the minister of Higher Education, Temjen Imna Along, to allow “free and fair competition for all the qualified candidates from Nagaland” and ensure meritocracy, being a “youth icon”.
The federation went on to state that it won’t remain a silent spectator to injustice and “affirmed its fullest support to Nagaland NET Qualified Forum (NNQF) in its quest for free and fair competitive examination”.
