DIMAPUR, JUNE 20: As reported by Eastern Mirror on our Monday edition, a new regional party in Nagaland would be launched on Tuesday at Dimapur. It has been confirmed that this new party would be named as Nagaland Congress Party.
Despite what the name suggests, the party would be independent of the Indian National Congress and function as “regional” in character. Most leaders of this new party, as reported earlier, are former members of the Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee (NPCC).
Reliable sources informed on Monday evening that former Congress legislator, Nillo Rengma would head the newly formed party as its president. The other officials of the party include Joshua Sumi as vice president, Subongmeren Jamir as general secretary and Z Lohe as treasurer.
