Phek, Nov 22(EMN): Opposition legislator Kuzholuzo Nienu inaugurated on Thursday the Lasumi Council Hall at Lasumi village in Phek district. It was constructed from the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA) 2017-18 programme.
Speaking during the occasion, Nienu expressed happiness at what he called judicious use of funds, and added that it would go a long way in serving its purpose. He urged the village’s authority to continue to maintain unity and integrity for all round development.
The legislator was optimistic that the newly constructed hall would bring people closer and strengthen unity. Also, the project director of the District Rural Development Agency of Phek, Keyirangding Hegui expressed satisfaction with the quality of work on the building. This was made possible due to proper utilization of funds, he said. He called upon the villagers to cooperate with the government to avail further developmental packages in the future.
Muzivolii T Therieh, member secretary of the Nagaland State Legal Service Authority, also encouraged the village’s authority to use the hall as a place for justice and equality ‘accessible to both men and women so that goodwill prevails.’ She said villages in Nagaland were mini states as legislative, executive and judicial powers have been given to them by the Village Council Act. The village authorities must use their powers wisely and for the benefit of villagers, she said.
