Larry Mukhim from Meghalaya outshined 16 other drivers in the Autocross (SUV) at the ongoing 6th Horsepower Challenge here at Meriema on Friday to emerge the champion of the category.
Lieh Lamare (Ejamsa), also from Meghalaya who clocked a few milliseconds more than Larry on the dirt track, came second and Stephen Sympli (Ejamsa) took the third place.
In the Motocross Expert Class, rider Suhail Ahmed of Team Spearhead from Bangalore scored a total of 57 points in three laps to secure his place in the first position of the category while Paominthang R Vaiphei (North TuraWelfare Club)and Chau Naylim Chowhin from Meghalaya won the second and third place respectively.
Novice rider B Lalruatsanga of Mizoram clinched the winning slot in the Motocross Novice category while Manjur Ali and Mafuz Ali Elahi came second and third respectively.On Saturday, Autocross (car) and Supermoto events on tarmac will be held at the Naga Heritage Village, Kisama from 9 am onwards. The Autocross competition will be held for two categories- above 1000cc and below 1000cc.
The prize distribution ceremony of the 6th edition of Horsepower Challenge 2015 will commence right after the final rounds are over, tentatively around 4.30 pm at the same venue (Kisama).
The annual Horsepower Challenge is organized by the Nagaland Adventure Club (NAC). This year, the event is being supported by the state Youth Resources & Sports department.
