Landslides destroy houses and roads in Mokokchung

Mokokchung, Aug. 16 (EMN): Incessant torrential monsoon rains in Mokokchung have triggered landslides in and around the district and also affecting the lives of the people.

A press statement on Sunday informed that landslides had completely washed away a connecting road in Alongmen ward in Mokokchung town on August 15 night. Besides, it has affected more than thirty households of the particular ward.

Upon hearing about the incident, the minister of Housing and Mechanical Tongpang Ozukum visited the impacted area on August 16 morning in order to take stock of the situation. He has assured to provide assistance from the state government in order to restore normalcy at the earliest.

The minister was accompanied by the deputy commissioner, Mokokchung, Limawabang Jamir, superintendent of police, Mokokchung, Vishal; SDO (C) Temsuchuba; officials from NSDMA and a host of other officials, it stated.
