Landslide near Senapati Bazar disrupted road traffic in National Highway 39, thereby causing inconvenience to many.
The landslide occurred today noontime at the southern side of Senapati Bazar, nearby by the District Hospital. The affected area is exactly called as Makherulu village. Around 100 metres of the NH 39 at this area has collapsed.
Main cause of the damage can be attributed to the sudden heavy rainfall in the past few days, and poor repairing of the road, said experts and locals. After the natural calamity, Senapati DC, SP of the district and other top officials rushed to the site and took a first-hand report of the accident.
The landslide blocked any kind of vehicular movement in this road, and as of now, traffic has been diverted to a small road. However, no heavy vehicle cannot pass through this diverted road.
District officials said that repairing of the affected area will start by the departments concerned from tomorrow. The officials also appealed the public and transporters in particular, not to run heavy vehicles till repairing is completed.
