DIMAPUR — A group of landowners affected by the Kohima-Jessami 2-lane road construction project (Packages 2B to 5) has called for an administrative investigation into alleged anomalies in compensation process.
In a statement issued on Monday, convenor of the group, Kuveluyi Chuzho, stated that they have formally written to the chief secretary, “urging for an administrative investigation into the alleged nexus between the National Highways and Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited (NHIDCL) and Thungbemo Patton, the then Nodal Officer during the compensation process.”
Citing information obtained under the Right to Information (RTI) Act, the landowners claimed that compensation was granted in cases where single structures were paid for twice, both husband and wife were compensated for the same house, and standing structures located beyond the Right of Way (ROW) were included.
The landowners maintained that they have faced hardships since 2021 due to the alleged irregularities.
