Lancer CC, Dashing Dudes reach Wokha Winter Cricket Challenge T20 semi-finals

WOKHA — Lancer CC and Dashing Dudes from Wokha village booked their places in the semi-finals of the ongoing 30th Winter Cricket Challenge (WCC) T20 underway in Wokha on Monday.

According to an update, in the first quarter-final, Lancer CC won the toss and chose to bat. They set a strong target of 202 runs in 20 overs, losing six wickets.

Opening batsman Hiketo scored 41 runs, while Mughavi Sumi played a quickfire knock of 52 runs off just 20 balls. Shamwang added 22, Asif 27 and Hopongkyu 20 runs to the total.

Chasing the target, Elite CC fell short by 13 runs, finishing at 189 for 9 in 20 overs. Tachuye scored 31 runs, Thupulozo 32 and Kelhousilie 25, but their efforts were not enough. Mughavi Sumi was named man of the match for his explosive half-century.

In the second quarter-final, Dashing Dudes won the toss and opted to bowl first.

Hercules managed 133 runs in 19 overs before being bowled out. In reply, Dashing Dudes chased down the target in the 19th over, winning by two wickets.

Chonbenthung scored 37 runs, Aarush Singh contributed 35 runs and also claimed three wickets, while Nsungthung added 24 runs. Aarush Singh was declared man of the match for his all-round performance.
