MLA Dr. Tseilhoutuo Rhütso says lack of portfolio limits his ability to serve people while speaking at a health camp.
DIMAPUR — Member of Legislative Assembly (MLA) of 9 Kohima Town Assembly Constituency, Dr. Tseilhoutuo (Ato) Rhütso, has stated that the absence of an assigned government portfolio has limited his ability to serve the people and address their aspirations in various ways.
According to a report, Dr. Rhütso made the statement while speaking at a free medical health camp organised under his initiative at the New Reserve Panchayat Hall, Ward No. 16, covering New Reserve and Lerie Chazou, on September 19.
He stated that despite the limitations of his position, he remained committed to finding ways to serve the people and contribute to their welfare. “I have my concern to help the people in various ways,” he said.
He mentioned that with the support of Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio, he had travelled across different tribal communities and extended support to people from various sections, adding that he would continue to work in the interest of the people and honour the trust placed in him by the electorate.
Dr. Rhütso also highlighted his efforts in healthcare outreach, stating that he and dedicated medical teams had conducted health camps at 25 locations across Nagaland under the Chief Minister’s Mobile Operation Theatre (CMMOT) initiative. He said similar health programmes would continue to be extended to other wards of Kohima.
The medical camp at New Reserve provided blood tests, ultrasounds, ENT screening, dental check-ups, medical consultations, and medicines. Home services were also offered to bedridden and elderly patients, while cervical screening through Pap smear, blood pressure and blood sugar checks, and specialist consultations were made available.
Vincent Belho, General Manager of the Family Planning Association of India, Nagaland State Branch, highlighted the importance of cervical cancer awareness, early screening, HPV vaccination, and HIV prevention through Pre-Exposure Prophylaxis (PrEP).
