- LONGMATRA — Government
High School (GHS) Longmatra in Kiphire district, which caters students from 13
nearby villages, is facing serious problems due to poor infrastructure. The
school lacks enough classrooms, clean drinking water, toilets and a safe
learning environment.
- Irothe T Sangtam, president of the Longmatra Area Students'
Union (LASU), expressed his disappointment, saying, “It is very sad that we
still have to keep asking for basic things. At this age, students should be
getting better education, not struggling like this.”

- He added that even after sending several requests to the
authorities, no proper action has been taken. He stated that the school does
not have strong roofing, making it unsafe for students.
- The union has urged the department of School Education to
take immediate steps to improve the school. They reminded the government that
students in rural areas also deserve a proper and safe place to study.
