Labour cooperatives meet in New Delhi

EMN Dimapur, March 4 The advisor to the Cooperation department of Nagaland, Imtilemba Sangtam, was in New Delhi recently to attend the 6th National Labour Cooperatives Congress. The event was conducted with the theme “Role of Labour Cooperatives in Make in India, Skill India and Swachh Bharat Abhiyan.” The Minister of State for Social Justice and Empowerment, Sudarshan Bhagat, attended the function as a chief guest. Delegates from labour cooperatives and special invitees from central and state governments, NABARD, national cooperatives organizations, nongovernmental organizations, and international organizations participated in the Congress, the press release from the PRO of Nagaland House stated on Friday. The focus of the event’s discussions was on the role of labour cooperatives in India as per appeal made by Prime Minister of India. The Congress had review the implementation of recommendation of 5th National Labour Cooperatives Congress and also considered the achievements, problems of Labour Cooperatives in details, the press release said. The advisor was accompanied by Velasa Nakhro, Registrar of Cooperatives Societies and department Officers from the state, the press release stated. It did not mention what the advisor did during the event or whether or not he spoke. Sangtam also met Mohanbhai Kalyanjibhai Kundariya, the Union Minister of State for Agriculture and “discussed on department project like ICDP, NCDC and other projects.” The union minister “assures to extend all the possible help to the State, the Union Minister is planning to visit the state in the first week of May 2016,” it added.
