Michael Dias, a member of the Employee’s State Insurance Corporation (ESIC) visited Dimapur on February 3 and met government officials of the Labour department and other stakeholders of corporation. Detailed discussions were held with regard to the improvement in the ESI Services at Dimapur, a press release informed on Friday, February 5.
Michael Dias said in his address that the corporation would be giving an amount of Rs. 40 lakh annually for the operation of a dispensary.
Also, health official Dr. Z.Kheshito Zhimo, AMO, said that the state government of Nagaland has approved the proposal for appointment of staffers for the dispensary.
Introducing the visiting officials, Dr. Zhimo mentioned that the ESIC was being implemented in Dimapur. It was attached to the district hospital of Dimapur and 8 beds were reserved for IPs and their beneficiaries.
Subsequently in August, 2012, the dispensary was shifted to 4th Mile. In November 2015, tie-up arrangements were made with Dimapur Hospital & Research Centre for primary and secondary care. The total number of IPs till date are 1, 463. The number of OPD patients who have attended the dispensary till date is approximately 930.
Another official Dr. Hareshwar Meeitei, Sr. State Medical Commissioner mentioned that some medical reimbursement payments are pending with him. As he has recently taken over, was unable to clear the pending bills but assured all persons present that he would expedite its clearance in the next few weeks.
Nungshiyanger Aier, Labour Commissioner, thanked the distinguished guests from Delhi and also the ESI officials from the regional office of Guwahati. He requested the corporation for expansion of the scheme to Chumukedima areas where a large number of Industries, shops and establishments, schools and construction companies are established. He requested that the regional office of Guwahati conduct regular ‘awareness programmes and also to provide information’ regarding ESI services and programmes.
