Dimapur, Dec. 14 (EMN): Asserting that there is no boundary for sportsmen and women advisor DUDA, N. Bongkhao Konyak appealed to the young participants to exalt through sports and bring laurel to the nation. Konyak was addressing at the L. Chonglang open men’s volleyball trophy at Bhumnyu village on Dec. 13 organised by the Bhumnyu Citizen Students’ Union, stated an update from the DPRO Longleng. Konyak thanked the organiser for giving a platform to the youngsters to exploit their talent and to excel in the field of sports. He also encouraged the young sportsmen to be serious while choosing their professions and play the game with full team spirit and discipline. Besides promoting their talent and skills he urged the players to spread the message of love, peace and harmony through sports.
Bongkhao also called upon the Phom community to strengthen the old traditional bond and relationship with the Konyaks and continue to play the role of facilitation to strengthen the eastern Nagas for growth, development and harmony in the region. Later he declared the tournament open.
In the opening match, volleyball for Peace Team, Dimapur defeated Sunrise Club of Yangching. Altogether 16 teams are participating in the tournament.
