Dimapur, Nov. 11 (EMN): Reacting to the alleged State government’s decision to shift the Hornbill Festival to Dimapur citing security reasons, Kohima Village Youth Organisation (KVYO) has threatened to ban all Hornbill functions in Kohima city during the celebration.
Informing that the Hornbill Festival functions were confined only in Kohima without any security threat for years, KVYO wanted to know the security lapses during the night Hornbill Festival at any venue spread across different locations.
KVYO president, Medozhatuo Rutsa, and the general secretary, Ruokuoneitso Kire, have warned the State government of any plan to shift the Hornbill Festival out of Kohima.
“KVYO is not opposed of spreading Hornbill festival to other districts, but government citing security reasons is unreasonable and unbecoming of a State government who run the affairs of the day to day,” the statement added.
In the event of shifting the venue from Kohima city, KVYO has decided to ban all the night activities in Kohima city during the Hornbill Festival from December 1 to 10.
