award ceremony on Wednesday.
DIMAPUR — The Kohima Village Students' Union
(KVSU) held its general conference-cum-Sachü scholarship award ceremony on
Wednesday on the theme "Future forward: Enroute to 100" with the
director of Information and Public Relations, Dzüvinuo Theünuo, as the theme
speaker at Kohima village council hall.
Speaking on the theme, Theünuo lauded the KVSU for coming up
with a 15 years' vision plan for the union's 100th anniversary, which has
attained 85 years since its inception. Stating that today's students would be
shouldering the roles and responsibilities of KVSU during the time of its 100th
anniversary, she urged everyone to put on their best efforts and look forward
to the celebration, stated a DIPR report.
“The union belongs to everyone; the past, the present and
the future. So everyone can be a part and parcel of the union's activities and
initiatives for the welfare and well-being of the village as a whole,” she
said.
As students’ union oversees the human resource development,
she stated that uplift and management of people in the right way is paramount.
According to her, human resource development doesn't only mean striving in
education sector alone but putting one’s best efforts in whatever they do for
the betterment of people.
Quoting a Greek philosophy which states that ‘no one is born
with a wisdom or good character,’ she stated those traits are learned from
childhood with consistency in practice and perseverance.
“Realistic knowledge and its fulfillment not only enhance
quality of an individual but it also helps the society in all aspects. It also
brings social change, improve general health and well-being,” she added.
Referring to a Russian writer, Leo Tolstoy, she said the
best time to do anything in life is ‘today’ as we do not own the past nor the
future and added that the most important persons are the ones around them at
the moment.
She further urged the KVSU members to uphold their
motto" March for the better" and concluded with a maxim "Well
done is better than well said."
Speaking on the topic "Leadership: roles and
responsibilities," former KVSU president, Keneingu Rutsa, stated that a
leader is someone who has the ability to guide and influence others to achieve
common goals. He said a leader with no clear vision is not a true leader.
Rutsa mentioned that a leader should have the ability to
delegate works to others on the basis of ability and talent and should also
know when and how to guide, encourage and motivate his fellow colleagues.
He also urged the students to be a good follower of their
seniors because a good leader is a good follower. He said integrity, self
awareness, visionary, team work spirit, communication, understand other's
problems, decision making, accountability, acknowledgement and humility are the
qualities of a good leader.
The 2nd edition of Sachü Scholarship award sponsored by
Vikuonuo Sachü, former Miss Nagaland 2019 and founder of Mericulum Society,
Noklak, was given away on the occasion.
Meanwhile, convenor of selection committee, Khriesamhalie
Daniel Rutsa, announced the new office bearers for the tenure 2025- 2027, which
would be led by Khriesaneikuo Kire as President and Kiyakhrienuo Solo as
general secretary.
