Krishi Vigyan Kendra Dimapur and Kiphire hold Scientific Advisory Committee meeting at ICAR Regional Centre to discuss agricultural strategies.

DIMAPUR — The Scientific Advisory Committee (SAC) meeting of the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR)-Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) Dimapur and ICAR-KVK Kiphire was convened at the ICAR Regional Centre, Nagaland, in Chümoukedima on Wednesday.
The session was attended by Mhathung Yanthan, Advisor for Agriculture, as the chief guest. During the meeting, three technical bulletins and a newsletter were released by Yanthan.
Other attendees included Limanenla, Joint Secretary, Government of Nagaland; Sanuzo Nienu, Director, Agriculture; Dr. AK Mohanty, Director, ICAR-Agricultural Technology Application Research Institute (ATARI) VII; Dr. Girish Patil S, Director, ICAR-National Research Centre (NRC) on Mithun; Pauline Alila, Dean, SAS, Nagaland University; and James Suw, ADC, Medziphema.
In his address, Dr. Mohanty highlighted the need for convergence between various departments to serve the farmers of Nagaland. Yanthan stressed the importance of climate-resilient technologies and interdisciplinary collaboration for rural entrepreneurship development and the empowerment of women-led self-help groups (SHGs).

The meeting witnessed participation from officials of SAS and line departments, including Agriculture, Horticulture, Veterinary and Animal Husbandry, Forestry, and Fisheries, alongside 60 attendees, including six progressive farmers from Dimapur and Kiphire.
Dr Phool Kumari, senior scientist and head of ICAR-KVK Dimapur, and Dr. Lahar Jyoti Bordoloi, senior scientist and head of ICAR-KVK Kiphire, presented reports on the implementation of recommendations from the previous SAC meeting, achievements, and the progress report of 2025.
Dr. Bendangla Imsong, Chief Technical Officer (CTO), Plant Breeding, KVK Dimapur, and subject matter specialists of KVK Kiphire outlined the achievements and the proposed action plan for 2026.
During the interactive session, officials emphasised the role of KVKs in addressing farmers’ challenges through scientific interventions and highlighted the importance of interdepartmental collaboration.
