DIMAPUR — Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Dimapur, organised a one-day training programme for extension functionaries working under the department of Agriculture, Chümoukedima, on quality seed production techniques for major cereal crops on Thursday at the KVK Dimapur conference hall.

Dr. Homeswar Kalita, head of the ICAR Nagaland Centre, was a special invitee to the inaugural session, where he discussed the status, scope, and prospects of quality seed production, according to an update.

Senior scientist and head of KVK Dimapur, Dr. Phool Kumari, spoke at length about KVK activities, mandates, and objectives, and Dr. Harendra Verma, scientist (genetics and plant breeding), ICAR Nagaland Centre, discussed quality seed production techniques and seed certification procedures.

Dr. Bendangla Imsong, chief technical officer (genetics and plant breeding), KVK Dimapur, gave a lecture on the various techniques involved in producing high-quality maize seeds, and Dr. Moanaro spoke about managing major rice and maize pests.

Bodevi Shuya, district agriculture officer, attended the valedictory session, where he urged all agri and allied department officials, as well as KVKs, to collaborate for the benefit of farmers. The training programme was attended by a total of 25 officials.
