Dimapur, Feb. 11: In connection with the impasse between the state government and Naga public on ULB election, the Khiamniungan Union Tuensang (KUT) has convened an emergency executive meeting on February 10, 2017.
In the meeting, KUT thoroughly deliberated on the issues and various decisions taken by the Khiamniungan Tribal Council (KTC) in recent times pertaining to ULB election at Noklak Hq. and resolved the following:
1. After serious discussion on the issue, the meeting unanimously resolved to stand by its earlier decision of 10th Jan 2017 which had discarded the proposed ULB election at Noklak Hq in particular and in the state in general.
2. KUT unanimously condemned in-toto the decision taken by KTC which had accepted the ULB election at Noklak. However, the meeting had re-affirmed that the KUT will continue to extend its full support and stand in solidarity with the rest of the Nagas under the initiative of the NTAC and JCC at all cost.
3. The KTC officials had betrayed the Khiamniungans in the whole process of ULB election by taking un-realistic and hasty decisions damaging the image of the Khiamniungans. Therefore, the people of Khiamniungan Naga could no longer remain silent with regard to all the decisions taken by the KTC in failing to lead our general public in solidarity with the rest of our other Naga public: Therefore, the KUT strongly demands the present team of Khiamniungan Tribal Council (KTC) to dissolve within the 15th February of 2017 failing which the KUT will be compelled to take its own course of action in the interest and welfare of the community.
4. The KUT had also appealed to the Khiamniungan GB’s Union to take over the office of the KTC right after the dissolution of KTC in order to safeguard the integrity and to maintain the sanctity of the entire Khiamniungan community.
The aforesaid resolutions were appended by KUT president M Neolo and executive committee chairman, NL Tangsoi.
