Kumlong ward jubilee committee conducts painting competition

Dimapur, Dec. 11: As a curtain raiser, Kumlong Ward Golden Jubilee Planning Committee organised a sketching & crayon drawing competition on the theme “Toxic free environment” for children of Kumlong and Mongsenbai at Eden Academy on December 10 with the participation of 15 talented artists. The competition was organised by the Planning Committee with the support of Kumlong Ward Council, Kumlong Environment Committee and Kumlong Baptist Church. The competition was conducted in two categories namely junior for students from Classes V-VII and Senior for students from Classes IX – XII. The judges for the competition were Aren Changkija, as chief judge, and assisted by KBC associate pastor, Moanaro Imchen, and Planning Committee member, I Tsukjem. Winners in senior category were Imliakum Jamir, Moanenla Imchen and Retsungdangba T Kichu in first, second and third position respectively and in junior category Alemrenla Jamir, Tangsemnaro Imsong and Imnasenla T Longkumer were adjudged in first, second and third position respectively. The winners of both the categories were awarded cash prizes while the remaining participants were awarded certificate of participation. The winners and the paintings will be incorporated in the golden jubilee souvenir. Meanwhile, convener of Kumlong Ward Golden Jubilee Planning Committee, Tia Longkumer thanked all who have rendered their services for the success of the competition. He also thanked the Kumlong Ward Council, judges and also the participants for their active participation and support. He further thanked the administrator of Eden Academy for allotting the school. Kumlong Ward will be celebrating its 50th year anniversary in 2019. The Kumlong Ward Council has appointed planning committee to oversee whole preparation of the jubilee celebration.
