DIMAPUR, October 31: The 50th Aqahuto Area Sports Association Kukami Trophy got underway on Monday at Pimla village, Dimapur district on Monday.
Speaking as the inaugural chief guest, minister for Rural Development (RD) and REPA, CL John called upon the Aqahuto area students to bring unity, peace through sports on Monday.
Minister pointed out the responsibility to break apart the menace of tribalism should be through sports.
He urged the people of the area to change their mindset in order to bring positive changes and to maintain the true spirit of sportsmanship.
He also called upon the players to get mastered in any field of sports so as to participate in national level.
Minister pointed out the gathering to honour the founding members of AASA and thereby said that celebrating jubilee is to forgive and forget the past enmity. John also lauded the organising committee for their initiative in promoting sports.The six days tournament included football for boys, Volleyball and badminton for both boys and girls, while the tournament would culminate on November 5.
Earlier, C.L.John released the 50th Aqahuto Area Sports Association (AASA) souvenir. Altogether twelve villages of Aqahuto Area Sports Association (AASA) are participating in the events.
