Dimapur, Dec. 8: Even as certain gravels and earth have been unloaded on sporadic locations in the last 2 to 3 weeks on Nagarjan (Kuda) road with no evidence of any massive exercise, Kuda Village Council (KVC) has raised doubts on the veracity of the department’s serious intention to relieve the public from the ongoing suffering as it alleged that neither tender was floated for the said work nor work order issued till date.
While highlighting on the deplorable road condition in Kuda village to the Chief Engineer of Road and Bridges Department, the village council chairman, Achubu Meruno urged the former to repair the road in right earnest under transparent manner and enable the village and public avail citizen’s right to good roads so as to avoid any local recourse for redressal of grievances in the days to come.
Given the gravity of public suffering, the village council requested the concerned department to expedite repair of the said road which will also be boon to Kuda villagers as it is celebrating its platinum jubilee on December 17.
It also apprised that owing to inaction and neglect by concerned department since several years, Kuda villagers were compelled to mobilise own funds to repair the road. The statement said it mobilised Rs 5 lakhs in 2011, Rs 4 lakhs in 2012 and Rs 14 lakhs in 2014.
